First draft

May 10, 2021

In the spring of 2020, the coronavirus changed many people's plans and even prevented them from moving forward in the direction they had previously agreed upon, and this happened to me as well.

At that time, my maternity leave was coming to an end and I was supposed to finish my studies, return to work after a break of many years. For almost five years I was more or less at home with the children. I was studying, recovering from a surprising eye surgery and going through a very difficult and complex period of pregnancy with twins, I was at a crossroads that made me think about the direction of the future from a completely new perspective.

To give me time to organize my affairs, the girls went to my mother's care three days a week, which is when I noticed that the desire to produce something through pen and paper grew. I started drawing. I drew all kinds of things, I drew a portrait of my sister's son, I started drawing my own portrait for my portfolio, I collected my old works that had been done over the years and started putting them together for my own website, a website with a portfolio so that I would have evidence in the job search process.

My self-portrait, which I left to finish until a better time..

Spring came and went, I wondered what if I went after my dream, if I combined all my skills and put them together into a whole, did what I do best, what I love to do... in this case, that would probably mean I would be an entrepreneur... never!!!

The first draft of the baby was created, which I drew first on paper and then in Photoshop. Little did I know at this point that what I was doing was taking me in a completely new direction, towards entrepreneurship, which was in no way my goal or desire.

The first computer-generated version of a baby picture.

When the first computer version of the baby was ready, I had already decided that it would be my version of the birth poster that I was going to hang on the wall of our own children. However, I soon realized that the drawing I had made in Photoshop would not scale, I had not taken that into account when I started when I was just drawing for my own pleasure. So I had to move from Photoshop to Illustrator, change pixels to vectors and thus be able to scale the image to any size I wanted in the blink of an eye.

As the image began to take shape into its final form, my imagination began to take me towards that dream where I could act freely, create new things and enjoy doing things. Could that be my job?

The first version of my birth poster.

The baby created from the line drawings was ready and I published the pictures on my own Facebook page "My Creations" in the photo album. I asked people if they would be interested in ordering these from me if it was possible and the interest was truly beyond my expectations. Since I have twins myself, I wanted to make a picture with two babies. A heart was born between them for some sisters, one of whom did not make it home. I came up with the idea that they could hold a heart together like many others later, the heart became a symbol of the love between sisters.

Unlike the baby in the picture, my own twins were born very small prematurely, like many other twins, so we had to make a version of the baby suitable for those born prematurely. Thus, the "Premature Birth Poster" was born!

The version of the twins born prematurely was ready.

Along the way, the image refined and changed shape. The red heart between the babies turned into outlines. Images were created for many stories, even the sad ones, one with wings on its back, so I have shed tears many times during this project, lived through fates, gone through our own twins' journey into a world that was anything but self-evident. But in the end, I have also received praise, sensitive messages and admiration. I thought that maybe after all this "paper spinner" could create something meaningful, even though I am not an orphanage director, caregiver, nurse or doctor, whom I greatly respect.

So in conclusion, I can say that my journey to becoming an entrepreneur started with this baby picture, the latest (but probably not the last) versions of which are now for sale in my online store. I became an entrepreneur for Dreamstuff - dream stuff that is being created all the time!
